This city perfectly combines the abundant offer of services of the big metropolis and the exoticism of a city bridging two continents. The old Byzantium and Constantinople share space with modern Istanbul. The complex history, having been a capital for both the Christian and Muslim empires, is reflected in the spectacular monuments such as the Hagia Sofia once a church, then a mosque, and now a museum, or the Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmet Camii.
The city is divided in two by the Bosphorus Straight which connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. All of the small boutique hotels we feature can be found on both sides, not far from each other, yet some located in Europe and others in Asia. |
From these boutique hotels we can enjoy excellent views of the Bosphorus and watch the constant comings and goings of the enormous barges. The famous Grand Bazaar (Kapali Carsi) is the epitome of the fascinating chaos of the city: more than three thousand stores of all kinds of products are grouped together here to form an intricate labyrinth of alleys and passageways.
The captivating fish and seafood restaurants of the vivid Kumkapi neighborhood, the grand Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent, the fragrant Spice Market, the spectacular views from the Galata Tower or the Eyup Mosque, are some of the many compelling attractions of Istanbul. |
